Red rose crochet book mark - free pattern

It's quite a simple idea, and it's very easy to make. First you make the flower , I added a stem and a leaf, that makes a lovely book mark!

3 steps:

Stitches: (US crochetterms)

sc : single crochet

sl st: slip stitch

st: stitch

ch : chain

hdc : half double crochet

dc : double crochet

db : treble (triple crochet

materials:

  • coton yarn: phildar I used Phil coton 3 (color: rouge cerise et vert pomme)

  • un crochet hook 2,5mm (US: B/1 - UK 13)

rose pattern:

R 1- chain 63.

R 2- start from the second stitch from the crochet *1 dc, ch 3, 1dc* to the end of the row.

R 3- in every arch crochet as follows: 1 hdc, 1dc, 2 double trebles, 1 dc, 1 hdc.

When you get to the end, fasten off leaving a long thread to sew the flower.

Roll up what you just crocheted into a rose.

You'll get a rose of about 5 cm

Turn the rose on the back side and sew the flower.

You will get a 5cm rose approximately.

The stem and the leaf pattern:

  • Start from the back of the flower with green yarn. Start from the middle of the flower join the green yarn. You’re going to start making the stem, start by crocheting slip stitches until you get to the border of the flower (7sl st for me).

  • Chain 45, + 9 to make the leaf.

  • You start making the leaf crochet only front loops like this:

1 slst starting from the second stitch from the hook, 1sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1sc, 1slst.

That's one half of the leaf. Now you are going to make the other half of the leaf.

  • Turn your leaf around so that you can crochet in the other loops left when crocheting the first half of the leaf:

Chain 1, 1sc, hdc, 3dc, 1 hdc, 1sc, 1slst. Finish off. That's it!

You can make flowers with different colors, use different yarn sizes, have fun!
